Description

This KB explains why J-Web may become inaccessible after upgrading an SRX device to Junos OS 25.2R1 or later, and how to restore access.

Symptoms

After upgrading to Junos OS 25.2R1 or later, users attempting to access J-Web may see the following error:

 
"Access Error: 404 -- Not Found"
 
Note: Even though HTTPS connectivity to the device is working, the J-Web login page does not load.
 
Beginning with Junos OS 25.2R1, the jweb-srx-app package is provided as an optional package and is not included by default.
If the package is not installed (or was removed during an upgrade/rollback process), J-Web pages cannot be served, resulting in a 404 error
 
 
 
 

Solution

Install the J-Web SRX Application Package and reboot the device.

 
> request system software add optional://jweb-srx-app 
 
Reboot the device after the installation:
> request system reboot or > request vmhost reboot
 

After the reboot, enable web management if required:

 
> start shell 
# sh /jail/html/includes/web_management_config_enable
 
For existing devices upgrading to J-Web 25.2R1 or later, ensure the loopback interface is configured before installing the package:
 
set interfaces lo0 unit 0 family inet address 127.0.0.1/32
