The serial number (S/N) is a unique identifier of Juniper products and is often required by Juniper Customer Service or Sales representatives for product identification.

This article explains how to retrieve the serial number on EX Series switches by reading it from a label on the chassis, by using the Command Line Interface, or via the J-Web interface.

There are three methods to retrieve the serial number (S/N) from an EX Series switch (EX3200 and EX4200).

• Physical Location - Locate the serial number on the EX Series switch chassis.

  The serial number is a 12-digit number , labeled on the rear panel of the chassis.

• CLI - Retrieve the serial number by using CLI.

On the switch's CLI, issue the command show chassis hardware as in the example below:

In this example we identify the serial number of the chassis (BK0207442087), Uplink module (AR0207421426), power supply (AT0507430218) and SFPs (P9904K1, P9908BY) installed on the uplink module.

• J-WEB - Retrieve the serial number by using the J-Web HTTP interface.

The serial number of the chassis is available on the Monitor tab, under System View , Chassis Information.
