Description

NSSU failed to upgrade the switches.

Symptoms

The following error is returned when upgrading the switches with NSSU command


user@switch> request system software nonstop-upgrade /var/tmp/qfx-5e-jfirmware-25.2R2.12.tgz no-validate force-host


ERROR: Failed to add qfx-5e-jfirmware-25.2R2.12.tgz Failed to read reply for fpc1 error: ISSU Aborted! Backup RE maybe in inconsistent state, Please restore backup RE ISSU IDLE

usage: basename string [suffix] basename [-a] [-s suffix] string [...] not found, install abort!




Solution

The file "qfx-5e-jfirmware-25.2R2.12.tgz" does not work for NSSU since this is to upgrade the BIOS version, not the Junos OS.


To upgrade the Junos OS the following file is required.


jinstall-host9-qfx-5e-ng-x86-64-25.2R2.12-secure-signed.tgz

 


Go to Juniper Webpage and pick the Install Package option.
