Connectivity between the VMware vCenter and ESXi servers was not working across two different LAN networks on the SSR.

Topology:

vCenter → Cisco Meraki → SSR → ESXi

ESXi: xe-0/0/0.4 (LAN-A)

Meraki: ge-0/0/1 (LAN-B)

Traffic from ESXi to vCenter was seen after correcting the source network object, but return traffic was not observed.

Traffic from vCenter was received on ge-0/0/1 but was not seen on xe-0/0/0.4.

Application policies were configured for both directions.

The application policies were reviewed and the network objects were corrected.

• Added LAN-A as the source network for the ESXi-to-vCenter application policy.
• Added the vCenter server as a user in the LAN-B network object and used this object in the vCenter-to-ESXi application policy.
• After the changes, the Vcenter.LAN-B tenant was correctly identified in the Servers service.
• Packet capture confirmed bidirectional TCP and UDP traffic between vCenter and ESXi.

The issue was resolved after correcting the network objects used in the application policies.
