Mist has options to configure alarms for SSR events like VPN Path down or VPN Path up. These events can be configured to be triggered once a certain time period has passed causing dampening of respective recovery event.

Mist UI - Monitor - Alerts - Alert Types - Infrastructure - “WAN Edge VPN Path Down” - Can be configured to be triggered after a certain time interval like 10mins.

The dampening behavior works as follows:

• DOWN + UP within the dampening window — The DOWN is suppressed, and the UP negates the original DOWN. No DOWN alert is sent.
• DOWN with no UP within the dampening window — The DOWN alert is emitted only after the dampening timer expires.
• UP event received first (no corresponding DOWN) — The UP is emitted as-is. No dampening is applied.
