Description

This article describes a scenario where a configuration commit fails with the error message; Commit Error: ssamlib error. Error code SSAMLIB_TYPE_INVALID


Symptoms

One or more of the following symptoms may be observed:

  • Configuration commits fail with the following error:
Network security daemon: ssamlib error. Error code SSAMLIB_TYPE_INVALID
Network security daemon: ssamlib: ERROR ssam_add error code 0x2, type 0x8000002f
Network security daemon: ssamlib error. Error code SSAMLIB_TYPE_INVALID
Network security daemon: ssamlib: ERROR ssam_add error code 0x2, type 0x80000028
Network security daemon: <xnm:warning xmlns="http://xml.juniper.net/xnm/1.1/xnm" xmlns:xnm="http://xml.juniper.net/xnm/1.1/xnm">

  • The commit operation does not complete successfully.
  • The device is configured as a chassis cluster.
  • The issue may be observed after a software upgrade, rollback, node replacement, or an incomplete cluster upgrade.
  • Chassis cluster instability is noted.

Solution

  • Verify that both chassis cluster nodes are running the same Junos OS version.
  • Use the following command to check the software version on each node:
> show version
  • If the nodes are running different Junos OS versions, upgrade or downgrade the affected node so that both cluster members run the same software release.
  • Once both nodes are synchronized and running the same Junos OS version, retry the commit operation.
