This article explains why a routing instance is not automatically created when a Traffic Steering is configured through MIST.
After creating a Traffic Steering policy in MIST under WAN Edges > [WAN Edge] > Traffic Steering, the configuration is successfully pushed to the SRX device, but the APBR routing instance is not created. Checking the device configuration confirms that no APBR routing instance is present.
This behavior is expected.
An APBR routing instance is created only when the corresponding Traffic Steering configuration is referenced by an Application Policy. If a Traffic Steering configuration is created but is not being used by any Application Policy, the associated APBR routing instance will not be generated on the SRX device.
Verify that the Traffic Steering configuration is referenced within an Application Policy. Once the Application Policy is configured and the changes are pushed from MIST, the corresponding APBR routing instance will be created automatically.
