This KB is regarding the software upgrading procedure from FIPs enabled 22.2R1.9 to 23.4R2-S5.

We are requesting information on how to upgrade a FIPs enabled version to another FIPs enabled version. We are currently on 22.2R1.9 and are targeting 23.4R2-S5. We are requesting a step by step upgrade process to ensure FIPs is still enabled.

Questions: Does the device need to be zeroized to do an upgrade? Are there separate FIPs packages that need to be downloaded and installed as well?

Zeroizing may become relevant when FIPS is being enabled/disabled. Assuming that 22.2R1.2 was FIPS enabled then one may follow the regular software upgrade path to 23.4R2-S5.

One interim version may be needed, 23.2 or 22.4 or 22.3 for example.
