The device goes down when an FRU has an over-temperature
On MX240, MX480, and MX960, when the temperature for a particular FRU is above the over-temperature condition, the chassisd will start the timer(240 secs). If the over-temperature condition persists after completing 240 seconds, the chassis will be shut down instead of bringing down the particular FRU. This will impact the whole device traffic.
The entire chassis undergoes a shutdown with 240 sec count down when a specific FRU experiences an over-temperature(i.e, higher than <80 degrees>) condition.
The below log will be seen when there is over temperature:
<Date> <Node> chassisd[29128]: CHASSISD_OVER_TEMP_CONDITION: Chassis found temperature above over_temp condition temperature at one or more sensors (but no fan/impeller failure detected); routing platform will shut down in 240 seconds if condition persists
There is no workaround or fix for this issue. This is not a chassis-level issue.
Please check the RSI/Varlog for temperature-related information regarding the FRU.
The FRU that is overheating needs to be checked and replaced if needed.
