Customers may attempt to install vMX on Ubuntu 24.04 and encounter missing or renamed dependency packages compared to those listed in the official vMX documentation (2020). This article explains the support position and recommended actions.

When attempting to install or run vMX on Ubuntu 24.04, the following may be observed:

Required packages referenced in documentation (Ubuntu 16.04 / 18.04) are missing.

Package installation failures due to renamed or deprecated libraries.

Dependency errors related to:

-python packages

-libssl versions

-bridge-utils / net-tools

-qemu / KVM components

-Kernel compatibility concerns with newer Ubuntu 24.04 kernel versions

-vMX services failing to start or initialize properly

vMX is currently End of Life (EoL). The latest official documentation (2020) validates deployment only on older Ubuntu versions, primarily Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
