SSR in HA running on VMWare (possibly other virtualization)

 

When configuring Redundant interfaces, VRRP on an interface

 

Interfaces do not come up

 

Interface may appear grey with white outline in Mist UI

on SSR logs the message on the interface may be seen:

 Device Disabled Error:
   Reason:            EthDeviceMacAddressConfigException: MAC Address add
 failed with status code -95


Note: observed with version 6.3.4

Solution

Using MIST API, the device, port_config settings must be modified


This option is not visible in the MIST web as of Jan 2026
