This article describes possible reason why onboarding may not work when trying to onboard SRX to an environment after releasing from a different one.

Device onboarded to one environment > Release and onboarded to another environment 

Device does not show up in inventory after adopt to new environment. 

This is an expected behaviour as per mist design due to security purposes.
