Description

This article explains what can be done if the path trace intermediate paths show greyed out on the UI.

Symptoms

The intermediate oath trace being greyed out prevents the communication time measurement for the test agent.

For example:

When executing traceroute from the target TA, the route appears to vary each time, resulting in an unstable state.

Since this is grayed out, the time cannot be measured correctly.

Solution

Pathtrace can not find stable routes in the following cases:

  • ICMP response packets dropping
  • Responses coming from different hosts for a hop/TTL.

This needs to be corrected for this to work correctly.

This can be done by changing the setting of the monitor to use rate 0.1 PPS and stable period of 5 seconds and check if it works as expected. if not, modify these settings are per your network and check.
