This article clarifies whether SNMP Server Relay functionality is supported in Junos Space 21.3R1 or later releases for forwarding SNMP traps received by the Network Monitoring (OpenNMS) feature from managed devices to an external SNMP server.

• SNMP traps generated by managed devices are not relayed by Junos Space.
• Confusion between the SNMP Manager feature and an SNMP trap relay/forwarding capability.

While Junos Space 23.1 and lower versions can generate and send SNMP traps related to its own platform events, it does not provide a native mechanism for forwarding SNMP traps received from managed devices.

The SNMP Server Relay feature is not supported in Junos Space.

Note:

• Starting with Junos Space 24.1R1, the Network Monitoring (OpenNMS) feature is no longer included in the Junos Space platform.
• The SNMP Manager feature is designed only to send SNMP traps generated by Junos Space logical components to external monitoring systems.
• SNMP traps received from managed devices are processed by the Network Monitoring tool and are not forwarded to external SNMP servers.
