Description

This article describes how to upgrade wan edge SRX from mist.

Solution

Note: Please take all necessary logs, RSI etc before the upgrade process as mist would initiate storage clean up once upgrade is triggered.

  • Open Wan Edges > Select the Site > Open the device you wish to upgrade
  • Click on Utilities > Select 'Upgrade Firmware'
  • This will open a new dialogue box from where you can select the version:

  • Select the version you intend to upgrade ( Note : The suggested version in this page and the suggested version for SRX in KB21476 [juniper.net] may differ, as the version shown here are tested and qualified by Mist QA team for all mist related features. )
  • Once version is selected Click 'I accept the end user license agreement' , You may select reboot the device after upgrade as well so that upgrade happens automatically, else you can choose to just add the version now and reboot later. ( Note : If upgrading cluster reboot option would be selected by default )

  • You can see the upgrade progress in the status bar or can be seen in wan edges page as well.
  • You can see more information on upgrade progress in wan edge insights page.
  • Once the software is added and if you have not opted for 'Reboot device after upgrade' you would see the below status on your wan edge:

  • You may reboot the device once ready from Utilities >> Reboot wan edge or click on Pop up in top of page "Reboot Wan Edge"
  • If Console is available do monitor the device reboot process for any errors. ( it is always advisable to have a console of the device )
  • Once the device comes up, it would auto connect to mist and you may see the below Events in the insights:

  • The upgrade is successfully completed, please cross check the device for any alarms, core-dumps, CPU spikes or flow session etc from the remote shell. Few commands are given below.
