Description

The article provides steps to recover the device when FPC is not detected

Symptoms

  • The device will not have inband access .
  • Access to device over network will be lost.
  • FPC will not be detected in "show chassis hardware" output as shown below,

Solution

  • Login device via console and check "show chassis hardware" output to see if FPC is detected
  • Check for any alarms on the device.
  • Check for recent logs to see why FPC went offline
  • If FPC is not detected , power cycle the device [This is in case of single FPC chassis like EX4400]


If issue is not resolved even after powercycle contact JTAC for further troubleshooting.
