QFX5120 Leaf is forwarding the packet in the wrong direction
Customer is seeing intermittent connectivity in his IP Fabric running EVPN VXLAN:
Service is intermittent. While doing traceroute from Outside Source: 10.67.50.6 -> Destination: 10.52.232.22
SRC: 10.67.50.6 < --- > Router < --- > BorderLeaf1/2/3/4 < --- > Spine 1/2/3 < --- > Leaf5/6 < --- > Server DST IP: 10.52.232.22/ MAC address: 40:a6:b7:d0:76:b9
Check the Control-Plane table from Leaf 5 connecting to the Server has learned ARP and binding the correct MAC/IP.
However on Leaf5, the HW entry for the egress next-hop shows incorrect mac address which is of Server (10.52.232.20) reachable via VTEP i.e. connected to a different Leaf switch pair.
However, Leaf6 has correct HW programming and traceroute works fine if its hashed to this switch. As a workaround customer recovered the problem by disabling and enabling the LAG port on Leaf5 switch where the actual server is connected. It helped to restore the correct HW programming.
