This article discusses an issue encountered during the upgrade of SRX series devices from older versions to 22.1R1 and later versions.

One might encounter an issue while upgrading Junos from older code [20.x and older] to 22.1R1 and later if they have configured local-address under single-hop BFD, where constant RPD core dumps are seen on the device.

Example,

SRX# set routing-options static route 0.0.0.0/0 qualified-next-hop x.x.x.x bfd-liveness-detection local-address y.y.y.y

Remove the local-address configured under the single-hop BFD session before upgrading the image from older versions to 22.1r1 and later. This issue has been addressed in PR1722605.
