Description

This article provides guidance on extra hardware parts mistakenly included in your Return Material Authorization (RMA) defective return. It explains Juniper’s handling of returned unlisted parts and what you should do.

Symptoms

What should I do if I accidentally returned extra parts with my RMA?

Solution

Juniper Networks only accepts the defective part(s) listed in your RMA. If you return additional items by mistake:

  • Juniper will not be held responsible if a customer returns incorrect or extra parts.
  • Juniper reserves the right to process extra parts as deemed necessary.
  • If you require replacements for any parts that were incorrectly returned, please contact your authorized reseller to arrange a purchase. Here is How to locate a Juniper Partner, Partner Locator.

This policy is communicated through:

  • Your RMA confirmation email
  • The return instructions on our website
  • Direct communication from our Asset Recovery team

The following is a segment from the Defective Part Return Instructions, which are included in the official email notification sent to the customer.

c) Return only the stated defective part. Juniper Networks will not be held responsible for the return of any additional items shipped against us in error with an RMA.

d) If this RMA is for EX3400, QFX5100, or QFX5200, do not remove the primary Power Supply Unit. Fantrays and redundant Power Supplies should be removed prior to returning the defective.

e) If this RMA is for a defective chassis for a configurable system, remove all components inside the chassis and only return the chassis. Do not return mounting brackets, filters, or cables along with the chassis unit. Do not return chassis power supply units, any cards, fan trays of the chassis unless separate defective line items have already been created for it. Except for the products mentioned in the above bulletin point.

f) If this RMA is for a defective card, only return the card and no other components connected to it. Do not return optic transceivers with interface cards nor any cables.
