If the TCP session to the external controller is established prior to configuring the zero-suppression knob, the TCP connection to the external controller will get disconnected. This will impact the telemetry streaming to the collector.
If the TCP session to the external controller is not established prior to configuring the zero-suppression knob, as there is no telemetry data streaming, there won't be any impact w.r.t telemetry data.
This is expected behavior with the knob.
