Description

This article explains how the metrics are calculated for delay variations.

Solution

This is how the delay variation metrics are calculated for PAA:

  • Average Round-trip DV (ms):

This metric represents the average variation in the round-trip delay of TWAMP packets between the sender and reflector. A lower value indicates more consistent delay.

  • Far-end DV (ms):

This refers to the delay variation observed in the one-way direction from the reflector back towards the sender. It helps identify jitter introduced by the network path segment closer to the reflector.

  • Near-end DV (ms):

This refers to the delay variation observed in the one-way direction from the sender towards the reflector. It helps identify jitter introduced by the network path segment closer to the sender.
