We would like to request clarification regarding the behavior of QSFP/SFP modules, specifically concerning power consumption and internal resource allocation when optics are inserted but not actively in use.
We have two scenarios we’d like to better understand:
1) Optics inserted, interface administratively shut down, no fiber connected:
-> Will the inserted QSFP/SFP module still draw power in this state?
-> Will any internal system resources allocated just by having the optic inserted and even if the port is administratively shut down?
2) Optics inserted, interface not shut down, but still no fiber connected (i.e., no active link):
-> How much power is drawn in this state compared to an active link?
-> Are any internal system resources allocated just by having the optic inserted and interface enabled, even if the port is down due to no link?

> Being a FRU, the chassisd will communicate with the SFP & allot/read i2c addresses for fru mapping.
