Problem

A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in sudo, used in Juniper Secure Analytics, allows an unprivileged locally authenticated user to gain root privileges. This vulnerability is caused by the way sudo parses command line arguments. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.

Juniper Networks Juniper Secure Analytics

7.3 versions prior to 7.3.3 FixPack 7 on JSA Series;

7.4 versions prior to 7.4.2 FixPack 2 on JSA Series.
 

Juniper SIRT is not aware of any malicious exploitation of this vulnerability.
 

This issue was discovered during external security research.
 

This issue has been assigned CVE-2021-3156.

Solution

The following software releases have been updated to resolve these specific issue: Juniper Secure Analytics 7.3.3 FixPack 7, 7.4.2 FixPack 2, and all subsequent releases.
