The SRX Network Security Daemon (nsd) in SRX Series services gateways is susceptible to a denial of service vulnerability. This issue can happen while processing certain DNS response messages for name resolution requests initiated by the SRX device. An attack would require a rogue DNS server. Repeated crashes of the nsd process would prevent SRX's security subsystem from functioning properly. If this condition occurs, security-related configurations cannot be committed and security-related 'show' commands do not work. For example:
user@srx> show security zones error: the network-security subsystem is not running
