A stack consumption vulnerability in the regcomp implementation in the GNU C Library allows an attacker to cause a denial of service (resource exhaustion) via a regular expression containing adjacent repetition operators or adjacent bounded repetitions. Junos uses regular expressions in several places within the CLI. Exploitation of this vulnerability can cause the RE to crash and rpd application leading to a partial denial of service. Repeated exploitation can result in an extended partial outage of services provided by rpd. Juniper SIRT is not aware of any malicious exploitation of this vulnerability. This class of issue has been assigned CVE-2010-4051 and CVE-2010-4052 .
