Problem

We found the cause for the problem. A request sent by the HP WebInspect tool has a ClientKeyExchange of invalid length. This message is sent to the hardware SSL on the DX for decryption. But since the length is invalid, the SSL Hardware on the DX hangs and stays in a 'busy’ state. However, Software SSL on the DX handles this message properly and returns an error to the client. This problem only exists in DXs that uses specific hardware SSL card. The affected products are DX3250 and DX3650.

Solution

The workaround solution is to turn off Hardware SSL on the DX and instead allow the DX to use Software SSL. The CLI command to turn off hardware SSL is as follows: dx% set server factory s hw disabled dx% write Enginereing is currently working on this issue. The expected fix date at this time is scheudled for the end of January 2008. The DX OS version expected to be release is 5.3.4. Bug ID for this issue is 11795.
